So yesterday my son Tino of 7 years came home from school without his glasses on, turns out he's broke them..(by accident) Yet again. For about a year and a half he's been wearing glasses and this must of been about the fifth pair that as either ended its life in a mangled mess or has just randomly happened to get lost/ disappear of the face of the planet.
Now don't get me wrong my son is really good about wearing them, and he was the one who actually really wanted an eye test telling me that he wanted to wear glasses because bla bla in his class wears them and he thought glasses were "really cool!"
Me being me said yes we will get your eyes tested but there is nothing wrong with them.... Silly mummy, imagine my sons face when the optician said yes Mrs B, Tino does have a slight prescription and would benefit from wearing glasses for the foreseeable future.
So anyway so far we've had a pair of Bart Simpson glasses that had to be replaced as he fell asleep in them and they broke just above the nose bit, a pair of plain black ones that appeared to look like they had been scratched across the school yard, a lovely pair of quicksilver ones that somehow got bent and the lenses kept falling out, the latest pair some cool looking red or dead ones came home armless after being fixed back together in some kind of Jack Duckworth repair jobbie at home!
So off we go again after school today to the opticians to have his eyes re-tested and pick a new frame, I'm at a loss as to what to get this time as we've had the metal framed style, the moulded plastic frame type..... Just wondering what to get now that will last a little longer. Maybe nothing is safe with a crazy 7yr old boy? I'm just so glad that we don't have to pay for all theses replacements and repairs on the glasses.
I will let you know how we get on and I'm sure Tino will love to show you what he has picked out this time.
