Red Hot World Buffet - Our first Visit

As you know i blogged about how i was excited to announce that we had been chosen to be red hot taste makers for the red hot world buffet and bar.
As soon as we found out we were itching to visit our local Red Hot Buffet (Leeds)
So we booked in and hers how our meal went.

We arrived promptly as we had already pre booked our table and we were told to go down stairs to table 87, i was slightly apprehensive as i couldn't take my pram down there and had to leave it by reception, but i was assured it would be fine.

We headed down to the dining area and the overall feel was as if we were going on holiday and we had to board a plane.. we quickly were shown to our table and a waitress came and asked us what we would live to drink, i ordered the kids drinks and then ordered a signature cocktail for the husband and asked for a suggested cocktail for myself we agreed on a blackcurrant/grape absolute cocktail.
The Signature Cocktail was amazing and i will defiantly have it again!

We then headed off to explore the buffet, there is a wide range of foods available from Indian, Chinese, Mexican, Italian and many more. I think both me and the kids felt at first a little overwhelmed and spoilt for choice, but the kids soon got stuck in getting wedges, chili, Nan bread and anything else that took their fancy.

The Minis enjoying being taste makers!

Valentino is becoming more adventurous with his eating now and decided he wanted to sample some Sushi and Calamari. He loved them both and it was great that he could just try what he fancies without having to order a full meal of it. (Great for fussy eaters!)

I decided i would go and get something cooked from one of the live counters. The live counters in the Leeds branch are basically

  • Made to order pasta and Rissoto station
  • Made to order noodle Bar
  • Made to order chinese stir fry
  • Fish Counter (Grilled)
  • Chargrill (Straight from grill)
  • Live Tepanyaki Counter
  • Live Swiss Potato Counter

I opted for pasta from the live station as one of my favorite pasta dishes has to be Spaghetti Carbonara!
There's my dinner being cooked for me, it was great as i could specify what i wanted and how id like it cooking. It tasted beautiful and i was impressed at how fast my meal was ready, it was lovely, hot and fresh.

Spaghetti Carbonara
So after we had sampled a lot of the dishes that they had to offer (even the kids went back for more!) The kids and i were chomping at the bit to go and try out the desserts.

Mummy's Deserts
I'm not normally a dessert person although i love them, if we eat out i often skip desserts and opt for the bill, but these desserts were AMAZING! great little portions so it was fantastic to try a few and of course i did... it would be a sin not to right???

So my plate consisted of pear cheese cake, chocolate brownie, carrot-cake, creme brulee, strawberry mousse and the amazing chocolate fountain.

Lorenzo's Desserts
Lorenzo's dessert plate had jelly (lime and orange flavour), carrot-cake, chocolate brownie, chocolate fountain, strawberry mousse and chocolate ice-cream with what appeared to be rice crispies on.
I think the kids thought they were in heaven as they could just go back and get more whenever they wanted.

One thing that let the Leeds branch of the Red Hot World Buffet down was the ladies toilets, they were pretty dark and one of the toilet cubicles were out of order at the time of our visit.
The hand dryer was broken so we had to dry our hands on a roll of toilet paper that had been placed next to the sink, not very nice or appealing but i'm sure these will be rectified when we next visit.
Over all we had a fantastic dining experience, plenty of friendly polite staff were around to take our empty plates when we had finished and we could order drinks at any time, they simply brought them to us at the table.
The children loved it and i was happy that they ate well and even tried some new taste experiences. I cant wait for our next visit :)

Bambino Direct - Bargain hunting Mel!

So with Christmas virtually round the corner, i've decided to get organised and sort presents out, now i have a few bits that i have been buying through out the year but i must admit i was pretty stuck for what to buy Alexandra who will be 19 months old come December. (my first girl!)

I've decided that i wanted to get her a dolls pram, we already have a cheap buggy style that she loves to put her bunny and teddy's in but i wanted something more... something special that would stand the test of time but look elegant and pretty as well.
Moover Dolls Pram

So i stumbled across the Moover Dolls Pram Its traditional looking but strong and sturdy, i have read some great reviews online and through various other bloggers so i'm sold!

Like any like minded savvy parent i googled it as i was keen to purchase it at the best possible price..... This then led me to bambinodirect, as i browsed the site i found plenty of great products at amazing prices from Travel Cots, CotsBaby Furniture, Car Seats and Baby Monitors!

Bambino Direct is not a site i was familiar with or even purchased from but i know i am defiantly going to by Alexandra the Moover Pram for Christmas. (I love it, its beautiful!)

I know of plenty of people who have used Bambino Direct and have had some fab bargains... The Torino Cot is a great example £50.98 for a cot complete with a mattress is fantastic value for those on a budget or who want to purchase a second cot for grandparents houses.
Torino Cot

I cant wait till i get Alexandra's Moover Pram and i will be sure to upload pictures and possibly a blog post. I am so excited for Christams... can you tell :)

Mighty lights

Mighty Lights

We were recently sent from Walkers crisps the new range for taste testing!

Mighty lights are new to the Walkers family and with 30% less fat than standard crisps.
Here's what walkers have to say about the new mighty lights...

"Mighty Lights are perfect for kids' lunchboxes.
They are tasty, ridged crisps that come in three flavours - roast chicken, cheese and onion and lightly salted. All the flavours are suitable for vegetarians, and are available in shops nationwide. They're made from real potatoes with no artificial colours of preservatives-  and they're a source of fibre."

A box ready for taste testing!

Valentino enjoying his crisps with his lunch
Roast Chicken, Cheese and Onion & Lightly Salted
Love Heart Shaped crisp :)

So what did we think?
Well the children liked them... (result) but to be fair they will eat almost any kind of crisp, as its more of a treat to them as they don't often eat crisps (trying to be a healthy mummy!)
Where as me and the husband tend to snack on crisps more.
I was unsure if i would like mighty lights as i'm not keen on other branded thick ridged crisps, i think this is a mixture of me getting old and the fact my teeth and gums are not what they used to be.

Walkers Mighty Lights

Mighty lights are a ridged crisp they have a sufficient crunch factor but are not dry and cardboard like. I was really impressed with the overall flavour they come in lightly salted roast chicken and cheese and onion. The fact that they are a lighter crisp is great as i'm quite conscious of eating too much saturated fat and other nasties.
The husband also liked them so it was a defiantly a huge thumbs up all round!
To find out more visit

*Disclosure, i was paid and sent walkers might lights for an open and honest review all pictures and opinions are my own*

PS VITA Mega Pack

So my kids have a range of different consoles including Xbox 360, PS3, 3DS, DS, and we've even got an old PS2 (*Cough!* for mummy to play sing-star and bust-a-move on )
We have got our PS4 and XBOX One already on pre-order for late November.
So now were interested in the PS VITA, It retails at £169 from selected retailers including Amazon and Argos. It comes complete with the following 10 games
  • LittleBigPlanet
  • WipeOut 2048
  • MotorStorm
  • Little Deviants
  • Frobisher Says! (with Fun Pack DLC).
  • Ecolibrium (with Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum game packs)
  • Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters
  • Lemmings
  • Hungry Giraffe
  • The HD Adventures of Rotating Octopus Character
The Kids are huge big little planet fans and its one of their favorite games that they always come back to playing.
I think I am drawn to the VITA because its a fantastic looking portable console (great for long car journeys) and the fact they can add a memory card to store additional games and apps.

One of the really cool thing that i read and that excited me was with the impending launch of the PS4 the VITA will also connect to the PS4 acting as a second screen to play full PS4 games. sounds great doesn't it? This means that little Tino can play on the PS4 and i can watch my soaps without him hogging the TV box!

I would love to hear from you if you've got a PS VITA Mega Pack so please drop me a message and let me know what you think of it and if it really is worth a buy.

Lorenzo is one of the first kids in the UK to get his hands on a brand new product!  "WOW PACKS" are set to be launched here to the UK market August 2013.
Lorenzo and Snot the Zombie

WOW PACKS are the first ever R/C animated backpacks that magically come to life with the press of a button.
The WOW PACK has a built in controller attached to the shoulder strap, to activate you simply press the buttons for your WOW PACK to make funny noises and expressions.
Lorenzo has a snot the zombie, he rolls his eyes, blows raspberries and snot comes out of his nose!
Controller On Shoulder Strap

Snot the Zombie is bright and coulourful with his googly eyes that spin round and the yellow snot that drips from his nose!
Snot the Zombie
Inside the back pack there is plenty of room for Lorenzo to carry his bits and bobs around, he likes to carry his bunny bunny, drinks and of course some toy cars.
Inside the WOW PACK

Here's Lorenzo out and about wandering with his WOW PACK!
Out and About with the WOW PACK

Here's a video of WOWPACKS in action.

Lorenzo has become very attached to his Snot the Zombie and takes him everywhere, packed with his toys drinks and other bits and pieces he wants to carry around with him.
It has been a real surprise for people to see and have been a great conversation starter! We have had lots of compliment about it and Lorenzo loves to show every one what it can do.

The only main disadvantage i can think of as a parent is that i would love to see a main On/Off button for the WOWPACK as Lorenzo wants to Snot the Zombie to school with him in September.
Overall its a great little product and has defiantly has some WOW appeal, I'm sure we will be using Snot the Zombie for many more months to come.

NOW TV Box - Review

NOW TV box is available of £9.99 from NOWTV.COM with a sky or Now TV account

You can receive Now TV, plus many additional apps like BBC iplayer and demand 5.
4Od and ITV player aren't currently available on Now TV but are due to be added in the foreseeable future.

We received a deal from Now TV for 6 months package for £15. After that the package will cost £15 per month which is three times more than other rival streaming services.
Sky sports is available as a pay as you go service priced at £9.99 per day, fine for a one off event but i wouldn't want to pay that price on a daily basis! (good job were not sport addicts!)

Now TV has a more up to date movies selection than Netflix and LoveFilm. With a wide selection of  genres of films from Disney to horror.

Whats in the box
Now Tv comes with a simple to use remote, with HDMI cable and power supply in the box.

Rear view of box

Setup Menu

Setup it very easy just plug in and go through the setup menu and add your WiFi, there is no Ethernet port so you can only use a WiFi connection to connect.

I like that the buttons are minimal on the remote making it extremely simple to use.

The interface is really simple and easy to use, my 7 year old son Valentino could navigate this with out any direction.
It doesn't play full HD it only 720p, but this is hardly noticeable as the quality is still very good.
We haven't encountered any buffering issues probably due to the fact we have sky fiber 40mb.

I'm pleasantly surprised at how simple the box is to use and the choice of great films to watch for both me the husband and the kids. Its great for catching up on missed programs and i look forward to more updates coming soon from Now Tv.

LEGO Friends Heartlake City Pool - Review

We received LEGO Friends Heartlake City Pool (41008) to review. Now I know what your thinking... I have boys right? Yes this is true Valentino is 7 and Lorenzo is 4 and they certainly are little boys, but to them LEGO is LEGO!
They don't care if its pink or purple, they have a little sister and she often plays with "boys toys" and i do believe its also good not to gender stereotype.
Heartlake City Pool
They were thrilled to pieces when the LEGO arrived and couldn't wait to get building it.
Heartlake City Pool comes with a diving board, hot tub, water slide, waterfall, changing room and toilet (the boys found this highly amusing!), shower, 2 sun loungers, speakers, palm trees, basket ball hoop and ball, snack bar, cafe table and chairs.
Altogether there are 423 pieces in this set, with some great little accessorizes.
So on to the building and whats in the box

Valentino and Lorenzo really enjoyed building Heartlake City with a little help from me, Lorenzo's favorite parts of this set are the slide, the diving board that actually bounces and of course the toilet!
Valentino like also liked the toilets (there's a surprise!) the basket ball net and ball and the deckchairs.

LEGO Friends Heartlake City is available from LEGO.COM and retails at £39.99
