This week my little Valentino who swim's for his local amateur swimming club took part in badge night.
He was wanting to get his 50 meter badge and unfortunately it didn't go to plan!
He was prepped and ready for action (new goggles and all!) and to be honest i'm not sure what went wrong... maybe it was nerves, maybe he just forgot what he was doing but he didn't make it this week.
As a parent there is nothing more heart breaking than seeing your child want something so much and fail but i and you both know that this is a part of life... we don't always succeed in what we want and sometimes it takes a few tries.
He got out of the pool in tears.... knowing that he had failed, he had grabbed on to the edge of the pool during his length.
All i could do as a parent was calm him down and reassure him that its was OK, his time would come.
He was gutted, i was gutted, i know he could do it, he knew he could do it, but it didn't happen!
I know that when he does do it he will be thrilled.
Sometimes i think our children need to know that they may not accomplish something first time round and that in fact life has its challenges.
I want my son to grow and learn that if he works hard he will succeed.
I do believe that he will, and although it was heartbreaking he will be all the more grateful when he does get that badge under his belt!
He is positive, determined and very competitive, i am very proud of him and what he has already achieved!
I'm sure Valentino will get his badge next time and i am over the moon at what he has achieved already.
I love you boo and keep up the good work..
