Ox Pasture Hall Courtyard Restaurant

Last Sunday we (me and hubby) were delighted to be invited to Ox Pasture Hall to dine in the AA Award winning Courtyard restaurant in Scarborough.
Ox Pasture Hall is located in the beautiful North York Moors National Park just a few minutes drive from the seaside town of Scarborough.

Ox Pasture is a popular venue for weddings, christening and other corporate events.
Not only does Ox Pasture Hall offer an amazing venue for events but they also have accommodation with 32 rooms set in the idyllic 17 acres of picturesque gardens and grounds. Weather you are looking for a simple night away or something more luxurious for that special occasion Ox Pasture can tailor to your needs.

Courtyard restaurant

We arrived at 5.30 for our meal where we were warmly greeted by waiter Paul and seated in the restaurant.
Our table was perfect, it over looked on to the front of Ox Pasture hall, its grounds and onto the near by Raincliffe woods.
We decided to order from the A La Carte Menu

View from our table.
Shortly after ordering our starters and mains we were brought a beautifully presented Pama Ham appetizer.
Pama Ham Appetizer
A selection of breads were later brought to the table that are all freshly made on the premises daily by the chef, both me and my husband opted for a delicious cheese and chive bread and we certainly weren't disappointed.
Cheese and Chive Freshly baked bread

For starters I ordered the duck and my husband decided to order the ham, eggs and peas.

Confit duck salad, Duck liver parfait, cherry sorbet. Beautifully presented and full of flavour, I was pleasantly surprised how well the cherry sorbet really complimented the duck.

Ham, Egg Peas
Mini ham hock, pea mousse, crispy quail eggs, pickled vegetables, honey mustard dressing.
William enjoyed his starter, the presentation and attention to detail were again amazing.

Strawberry Consomm√©
After we had enjoyed our starters we had a Strawberry Consomm√©.

Slow cooked belly, tender lion stuffed with apricot and sage, savoy cabbage, sauteed potatoes, homemade black pudding & red onion marmalade.
I loved this dish, it was full of flavour the lion and apricot were simply delicious. I'm not a huge pork eater but I was certainly happy with my choice of main course,

Mini Beef filet, tender brisket of beef, creamed mash potato, mushroom duxelle baby turnip and carrots.
My husband loves his beef and this was no exception, the brisket melted in his mouth and the filet was cooked just as he liked it (medium/rare) topped off with the mash and rich gravy it was certainly a bit hit.

Pina Colada Sorbet

A Pina Colada sorbet was next to arrive and it was a perfect pallet cleanser, I really enjoyed this and simply couldn't wait for our desserts to arrive.

We ordered the Assiette of Deserts to share.
Assiette of Desserts
Wow, wow, wow!! Who doesn't like desserts? We were truly blow away by this and it was great to see such a selection as we were having difficulty choosing from the menu.
A true taste sensation with lemon cheese cake, raspberry milkshake, chilled mango rice pudding with a passion fruit sorbet. Needless to say between us we managed to polish them all off!

We thoroughly enjoyed dining at Ox Pasture Hall and plan to come back again soon, it certainly is a hidden gem in Yorkshire and we loved that The Courtyard Restaurant serves quality British food with an emphasis on local produce.
I hope to return to Ox Pasture Hall and hopefully have a child free evening in the hotel with the husband.

Thank you to all the staff from making us feel so welcome and thank you to the chef for an amazing dining experience.

Barny Bear's Park adventures

This week we have been busy with Barny Bear. Having children means we are always on the go and looking for things to do and adventures to stumble across. Alex went out to the local park with Barny who was perfect as a little snack mid adventure!

I went round and round on a roundabout, not very fast as I didn't want to get dizzy.

I had fun with my daddy on the swing, hes really good at swinging high and fast!

I then went on a rocker, it was my favorite and I didn't want to get off it. I rocked back and forth so much mummy gave me a Barny Bear. I ate him on there as I didn't want to get off.
Chocolate Barny was possibly my favorite but i also loved the strawberry ones.

Barny comes in a pack of 5 individually wrapped portions perfect for little hands Rrp £1.69 for a pack of 5.
Barny Bears contain no artificial colours or preservatives and are suitable for vegetarians.
Available in four flavours Chocolate, Milk Strawberry and Apple.

We were sent two packets of Barny Bear to try on our adventures as part of Mumsnet Blog Hop.

Run or Dye Castle Howard

This summer Me, Him and the Mini's, yes all of us are going to take part in Run Or Dye on 9th August.
Our local race is at Castle Howard privately owned stately home in North Yorkshire, England, just 15 miles north of York.

Run Or Dye is new to the UK but is well established in the States and is totally different to anything I have personally done or seen before here in England.

Here's what Run or Dye have to say about the 5K race,
"This is your chance to have THE most colour-filled day of your life with family and friends as you celebrate life, friendship, fitness, and fun."
"At Run or Dye, you become part of the rainbow.  As you run/walk/dance through the course, you will get showered in safe, eco-friendly, plant-based powdered dye at every kilometer...turning you into a technicolour canvas of fun!
Just when you thought you couldn't possibly be more colourful, you'll cross the finish line and find yourself in the middle of a colourstorm at our Finish Festival!  You'll jam out with our awesome emcees as they count down to the moment when YOU get to Tie-Dye the Sky and open your FREE colour packet to share a bit of the rainbow with your friends, family, and everyone else around you.  The result is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that many people tell us is the most fun they've ever had exercising."
It sounds so much fun and i'm loving that I can also run and take part with my children. I'm sure they will enjoy getting messy and spending some time as a family in such a great location.
I have also a fantastic discount code to share with my readers when you Register for the event at Castle Howard saving £3 on each registration. Feel free to use and share the code:MUMMAMELIO to grab a discount for you and your friends.

Registration is £28.00 for a team runner and £30.00 as an individual.

You can also keep up to date with Run Or Dye on social platforms such as Twitter Facebook and Instagram
I will be sure to share my experience and pictures after the event.
Happy Running,
Mel x

Bugaboo bee3 - The City Is Yours - Press release

Yay!!! The rumor mill has been churning for a while now with various speculations and even a new name been thrown into the equation, but i'm pleased to say here she is... Meet the latest addition to the Bugaboo family the new Bee3
At first glance it looks very much like the Bee plus. Bugaboo have developed a carry cot that is suitable for newborns with a lay flat seat to conform with the new EU regulations.
Another major difference are the harnesses and changes to the seat unit, although it isn't hugely different from the plus it boasts to be softer and more breathable. I think judging from the pictures it looks really comfortable!

The Bugaboo Bee3 is available from the 1st September 2014
• Bugaboo Bee³ with carrycot: £ 739 / € 849
• Bugaboo Bee3 without carrycot: £ 539 / € 629
• Bugaboo Bee3 carrycot (as accessory for Bugaboo Bee owners): £ 200 / € 220
Check out Bugaboo's website for more information and details on retailers.

Hot off the press, here's what Bugaboo have to say about the Bee3.

For parents who live life on the fly, Bugaboo makes life even easier with the new Bugaboo Bee3.
The 3rd generation urban pushchair for newborns and toddlers now features an easy-to-carry
carrycot, brand new fabrics and colours, an extendable sun canopy, offering your child even more
comfort. Thanks to the larger underseat basket for all your essentials it’s never been easier to get
out there - the city is yours!
“The Bugaboo Bee3 features innovative functionalities like the 3D compact fold which makes it
easy to collapse, carry, and store. Its unique seat can extend, reverse and recline, and with the
new lightweight carrycot it’s even more comfortable to go around town with your baby or toddler,”
says Max Barenbrug, founder and Chief Design Officer of Bugaboo International.
Perfect match
The simple to use and lightweight carrycot perfectly complements the urban style of the Bugaboo
Bee3. It lifts off the pushchair in just two simple clicks and can independently be used as a selfstanding
carrycot so you can keep your new-born within easy reach. Soft and comfy, the carrycot
comes in different colours and is also available for current Bugaboo Bee owners as it can be
purchased as a separate accessory.
A fresh new look
The Bugaboo Bee3 uses our newest fabric that is softer and more breathable, meaning better
ventilation and a more comfortable experience for your child. It doesn’t just look good; it’s durable,
and specially designed to be water-repellent yet still washable. The sun canopy fabric also
provides effective UPF 50+ protection from the sun. There are 64 different colour combinations
possible so parents can customise their pushchair and cruise the city in style.
THE pushchair to zip around town
Like all Bugaboo pushchairs, the Bugaboo Bee3 offers a smooth ride, smart design and
extraordinary value. The extendable sun canopy and rain cover offer additional protection from the
elements whilst improvements on wheels, chassis and a new harness make for a more
comfortable ride. What’s more, the under seat basket’s capacity has been increased from 16L to
22L to fully enjoy everything your city has to offer. Getting around has never been so easy thanks
to THE urban pushchair.
