Baker Days Letterbox Cakes Review

We were recently offered a cake to review from Baker Days and like any good woman cake is always a great thing to eat no matter the occasion!
I decided that i would choose a cake from the Valentines range as to use this as a feature for gift ideas.
So what is Baker Days and what makes them different? Well Baker Days is a simple concept of a celebration cake that will fit through your letter box.
They have an extensive range of personalized birthday cakes starting from just £14.99 with next day delivery if ordered before 2pm Monday - Friday.
As well as cakes delivered fresh to your door they do have an extensive range of cupcakes that are £24.99 for 12
I placed my order on the Thursday and it was indeed with me by Friday morning with the regular postman via the letter box!
This is what greeted me on my doormat!

 Inside the box
Every letterbox cake comes complete in a beautiful tin with a card from the recipient, some celebration candles, balloons and a party horn.

The Design I selected for our personalized cake is called Valentines Bird the price starts from £14.99 for a letterbox gift cake 5 inch 3-4 portions.

All Baker Days cakes can be customized so if a sponge cake doesn't tickle your fancy a Belgian chocolate, fruit cake, gluten or dairy free might just be the ideal option, these options are available from £1.50.

We really loved our Baker Days cake not only did it taste delicious we think the concept is fantastic especially as we don't always live near our friends and family, this is a fantastic little surprise that is sure to put a smile on anyone's face, and the best bit is that they don't even have to be in when it is delivered!
Baker Days have also given me a discount code to share with my lovely readers to receive 15% off your order simply enter the code: moy2k1 at the checkout valid until 13/02/2014

*Disclaimer- we received a BakerDays cake for an open and honest review, all thoughts opinions and pictures are my own.*

Happy Birthday Lorenzo!

My Little Monkey Lorenzo is a huge 5 Today!
Looking back at his pictures he hasn't really changed very much, just a little taller and faster at running away from mummy!
It feels like he's been with us for ever! (I'm certain he's been here before!)
His cheekiness shines through and his caring personality is just out of this world! There is never a dull or quiet moment with Lorenzo around :)

Happy Birthday little big man, we have had an amazing 5 years!
Love you lots
Mummy xx

Winter Warmers and Family Favorites

We have had a pretty chilly Christmas but i fear its going to get worse and no doubt in January/February we may even get some of the white stuff!
To keep that chill at bay i have  reading about other winter warming ideas on blogs and finding some great recipes and top tips out there on the web! This has given me some fantastic ideas to try out for myself and of course with the little ones!
In the mean time I've decided to let you in to what we love as a family to keep us warm during these winter months.

Tea and Herbal Tea.
Me and the hubby love a good cup of tea and if were feeling adventurous the odd cup of coffee goes down well usually on a Sunday morning with a cooked breakfast. I do love my filter coffee machine although it doesn't get used very often.
Herbal tea is great and my personal favorites are Chamomile & honey and peppermint tea, i find them both really relaxing and are especially good for before bed as they are caffeine free.

Hot Chocolate.
This must be one of the most popular all time family favorites, as an extra special treat just add squirty cream and marshmallows!  My children love it and there is no better way to wind down.
If your feeling adventurous then have a look at Jamie Oliver's homemade cinnamon spiked hot chocolate recipe.
This is how we like ours....

Vin Chaud/Gl├╝hwein aka Mulled Wine.
Ok this one is only for the adults, i'm ashamed to say i only discovered my love for mulled wine a few years back! Why it has taken me so long i don't know, i can only imagine that its because i'm not over keen on Red wine and that has simply put me off.
I have been stocking up on Morrisons Winter Warmer Mulled Wine as its often hard to source when its not Christmas.

Fear not my lovelies i have also discovered if you cant get your mits on the ready to drink Mulled Wine that Schwartz have Mulled Wine Spice sachets, these are like tea bags that you can simply add to a 75cl bottle of red wine with 200ml water 4 tbs brown sugar and 2 Schwartz sachets.

If your feeling in the mood for a tipple then you must try an added shot of Amaretto or Jagermeister to mulled wine! I can certainly vouch that it tastes amazing and gives the wine a lovely warm fiery kick.

Do you have some family gems or winter warmer recipes that you would love to share? I would love to hear about them. Check out my Pinterest Board for some more ideas.

Our Christmas 2013

Christmas and New Year have been and gone and its now 2014.... wow that came around quick!
I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas and i wish you all the best for the coming year!
We had a great Christmas and as Alexandra is now 19 months it was great to see her this year enjoy Christmas and be able to realize more of what is going on.

The Kids all received some wonderful presents and it was great to relax as a family and spend some much needed quality time together.
It possibly involved slightly too much food..

and possibly too much drink....
Sorry Hubby :)
Boxing day came and we had a last minute get together with my family, its amazing how you can put on a buffet at the drop of a hat (just call me super mum / wife )

This saw me take a rather unflattering picture of my mother and a picture of the Gan-Gan in sleep mode!

We didn't do anything for New Years Eve as i was struck down with tonsillitis and i felt completely rotten, not even a glass of Pinot Grigio passed my lips :( (This made me sad!!) We stayed in and watched the television and the count down to midnight.

I hope you all had an amazing Christmas and spent time with your loved ones. Its been great to simply just relax with the kids and hubby.

Here's to 2014 lets make it a good one!!
